Brazos Bend State Park

Environmental Education Center

Thank you for your interest in the Brazos Bend Environmental Education Center (BBEEC). This multimillion dollar complex will consist of a large exhibit hall, education center, educational staff offices, public restrooms and volunteer gift shop. Garden lined paths with gazebos and benches will provide areas for relaxation and allow easy access to the buildings.

Currently Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Brazos Bend Volunteer Organization are working together to develop plans and cost estimates for Phase One of the complex. This will be a multi-room Educational Center capable of seating 200 people. This facility will allow us to conduct the educational presentations and demonstrations at a higher level of comfort to a larger and more diverse audience. Exhibit hall, restrooms, staff offices and gift shop are future phases.

Brazos Bend Volunteer Organization will undertake the fundraising campaign to fund Phase One from private and corporate donations and will not involve any state funding.

By the fall of 2008 we should have drawings and estimates with more details about Phase One. Please check back to learn more about this project and how you can help make it a reality.

“Only through the education of today’s youth can the natural
and cultural history of Texas be protected for generations to come”

In the end, we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, we will understand only what we are taught?
