WEEKEND NATURE PROGRAMS & HIKES

July 31st & August 1, 2010

SATURDAY
10:00 am CREEKFIELD NATURE HIKE - 1/2 mile, paved trail, 1.5 hours
11:30 am STORY TIME (IP) - "Raccoon Moon" - Listen to the book and make a raccoon puppet.
1:30 pm THE WONDERFUL LIVES OF SNAKES (IP) - Learn the facts about the animals most people love to hate. Live, non-venomous snakes.
1:45 - 2:15 pm SNAKE SENSE - Stop by the information station at the Nature Center to learn about the natural history of these "limbless" creatures.
3:30 pm GOTTA HAVE GATORS(IP) - Learn why alligators are not only important to the food chain but also to the health and survival of their wetland ecosystem.

SUNDAY

10:00 am CREEKFIELD NATURE HIKE - 1/2 mile, paved trail, 1.5 hours
1:30 pm STORY TIME (IP) - "I Howl, I Growl" - Listen to this book and copy the sounds and movements of various animals. For younger children.
3:00 pm OWLS, FROM HEAD TO TALON (IP) - Learn about the adaptations of these mainly nocturnal hunters. Hear calls and view specimens of our native species.

All programs are free and will begin at the Nature Center unless otherwise noted.

(IP) denotes indoor program with limited capacity. Programs start ON TIME. Late arrivals may not be permitted.

Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Also open 9 – 5 most holidays except Christmas Day

The purpose of the Volunteer organization is to assist and educate the visitors of Brazos Bend State Park through
information and interpretive programs and to assist in the care and conservation of the Park.
